The Egyptian architect, Islam El Mashtooly, won the Ethics and Values WAFX Award in the World Architecture Festival (WAF) 2024 for his project Resilient Gaza: A Landscape of Resistance’.
WAF is a festival that celebrates design and architecture projects tackling major world issues.
El Mashtooly’s project, “Resilient Gaza: A Landscape of Resistance,” has been selected among the world’s most inventive future architectural concepts at the 17th World Architecture Festival. It competes in the “Future Project: Experimental” category and stands out among 33 other designs in areas such as residential, transportation, and retrofit.
The WAF will be held in Marina Bay Sands in Singapore from November 6 to 8.
While the winners have already been declared, the event is still in progress. Attendees can get involved in a live-judged awards program and critique presentations.
This year’s festival will also include supplementary events and activities, such as workshops, an exhibition, and keynote speeches by an international panel of speakers.
El Mashtooly, the founder of Design & More worldwide, a boutique design company specialized in architecture and planning, is a well-known architect, urbanist, and educator who has received regional and worldwide recognition over the last 19 years. His architectural style is profoundly anchored in a concept of environmental harmony, with the goal of creating projects that benefit and enrich the communities they serve.
