Egyptians Participate in Int’l Day of Yoga Organized by Indian Embassy

A diverse group of Egyptians, from all walks of life, enthusiastically participated in the’ Yoga at Iconic Place’ contest organized by the Embassy of India in Cairo to celebrate the 2024 International Day of Yoga in various governorates across Egypt, according to the “Ahram Online” website.

The 10th edition of the International Day of Yoga (IDY) was globally observed on 21 June under the theme “Yoga for Self and Society.”

On Friday, the Indian embassy in Cairo hosted a significant event at the Horreya Public Park in Zamalek.

Following the warm welcome by Indian Ambassador to Egypt Ajit Gupte and Major-General Mohamed Sultan, chairman of the board of directors of the Specialized Gardens Sector (Cairo Governorate), the participants were led through a standard yoga protocol, creating a serene and harmonious atmosphere.

The IDY celebrations’ chief guests included Amr Haddad, the first undersecretary and head of the Central Department for Sports Development at the Ministry of Youth and Sports; Rawan Lashein, a member of the House of Representatives; Sayed Hozayen, the undersecretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports; Amal Abdallah, dean of the Faculty of Sports Education for Girls; and Walid Abdel-Razek, dean of the Faculty of Sports Education for Boys.

They also included Samir Abdel-Aziz, president of the Union of Youth Workers; Ibrahim Ahmed, director general of Heliopolis Sporting Club; Mohamed Wahba, director general of El Shams Sporting Club; and Rania Yehia, a social media influencer.
