Egyptian Actor’s Syndicate Bans Lebanese Singer Haifa Wehbe from Acting/Performing in Egypt

News Agencies

Lebanese singer-actress Haifa Wehbe has recently been banned from performing concerts and taking on acting gigs following a decision by Egypt’s Musicians Syndicate.

Sada el Balad reported that Egypt’s Musicians Syndicate suspended Wehbe’s work permits and referred her for investigation after Dr. Ashraf Zaki, Head of the Actors’ Syndicate, requested cooperation between the two syndicates on a contract dispute involving the singer-actress.

Evidently, the singer had signed a contract with a film production company and received an advance payment but did not comply with a ruling by the Actors’ Syndicate’s investigation committee, which led to suspending her permits pending further review.

Moreover, Wehbe also failed to perform at a planned concert at the North Coast despite receiving payment. The superstar is set to meet with the Musicians Syndicate’s legal affairs next Sunday, which could possibly solve the matter.
