Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy invited people of all ages to participate in the marathon by bringing their bicycles to Al-Rashdan Mosque in Nasr City district by 4:30 am, where transportation will be provided to the new capital, a statement by the ministry said.
This marathon comes in the context of annually celebrating “World Bicycles Day” which emphasizes the benefits of bicycles as a sustainable and affordable means of transportation that can improve air quality and access to social services while combatting climate change.
It is worth mentioning that “World Bicycle Day” falls on June 3 every year.
Thousands of young men and women are expected to participate in the marathon which will be attended by Sobhy, along with several other ministers, the statement noted.
The marathon will start from Administrative Control Authority building, passing city landmarks to reach the government district in NAC.
