News Agencies

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi just ordered the formation of a committee whose task will be to assess the relocation of Sayeda Nafissa and Imam Shafei cemeteries as the government implements a development plan in the two areas.

Presidential Spokesman Ahmad Fahmy stated on Monday that the president issued the decision in appreciation of the historical figures of Egypt.

According to Fahmy’s statement, Prime Minister Madbouly will chair the committee that includes members from all the bodies concerned, in addition to a number of experienced archaeology experts.

Fahmy further explained that El-Sisi also required establishing a cemetery to bury remnants of the great figures of Egypt, called “The Cemetery of the Immortals”, which should also include a museum of artifacts found in the current cemeteries.

The statement also added that the specialized authorities are going to study alternatives and make recommendations, expected to be announced before July.
