This action is a clear violation of international humanitarian law and the regulations of the Fourth Geneva Convention of 1949 concerning safeguarding civilians during wartime.
As per a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, Egypt views this tragic assault as part of a deliberate strategy to increase the extent of killing and devastation in the Gaza Strip, rendering it uninhabitable.
Egypt insists that Israel adhere to its legal responsibilities as an occupying power and implement the directives given by the International Court of Justice to immediately halt military operations and any other activities in the Palestinian city of Rafah.
Egypt also renews its appeal for the Security Council and influential global entities to intervene promptly to secure an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and to halt military operations in the Palestinian city of Rafah.
Additionally, Egypt emphasizes the importance of the international community fulfilling its legal and humanitarian duties to provide protection for Palestinian civilians and prevent them from being exposed to life-threatening risks.
