Egypt has officially received the first installment of a EUR 1 billion ($1.03 billion) financial aid package from the European Union (EU), as confirmed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. The funds were deposited into the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) on Friday, marking a significant step in Egypt’s ongoing collaboration with the EU under the Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA) program.
The release of the loan was contingent upon Egypt’s fulfillment of policy conditions agreed upon with the EU. These conditions, outlined as part of the MFA program, aim to support Egypt’s economic reforms and fiscal stability. The European Commission had previously announced its decision in December 2024 to disburse the loan, which will help Egypt address its budgetary needs and strengthen its economic framework.
