Egypt, represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, is participating in the G20 Digital Economy Working Group meeting, which will be held online from February 17 to 19, 2025.
This participation follows an invitation extended by the Government of South Africa to Egypt to attend the G20 meetings as a guest country during South Africa’s presidency of the group. The theme for this year’s meetings is “Solidarity, Equality, and Sustainability.”
The discussions will focus on key priorities set by South Africa’s G20 presidency in the digital economy space, including enhancing connectivity for inclusive digital development, public digital infrastructure and digital transformation, innovation ecosystems, support for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises, and fair, inclusive, and justice-based artificial intelligence.
During the meeting, Egypt’s Ministry of Communications will showcase the country’s initiatives and efforts in these areas, highlighting its growing role in advancing digital transformation and fostering technological innovation.
Egypt’s participation reflects its commitment to solidifying its position within various G20 working groups. The country has consistently taken part in G20 meetings during the presidencies of China in 2016, Japan in 2019, India in 2023, Brazil in 2024, and now South Africa in 2025. Since 2019, Egypt’s Ministry of Communications has been actively involved in these discussions.
