Egypt is in Talks to Provide Humanitarian Health Assistance for the Crisis-Affected Port Sudan

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population of Egypt, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, met with Minister Plenipotentiary Ahmed Youssef, the Consul General of Egypt candidate in Port Sudan, Sudan.

They discussed ways to help ease the humanitarian and health challenges faced by the Sudanese people during the current crisis. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, mentioned that the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister Plenipotentiary discussed the extensive efforts to address the situation in Sudan.

According to Daily News This includes organizing medical convoys and sending them to the North Sudan region to support various Sudanese hospitals. It was explained that these medical convoys will be linked to mobile clinics and accompanied by significant quantities of medicines and medical supplies to cater to the treatment needs of the residents in that region. These convoys and clinics will be staffed by experienced and skilled medical teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality and prompt health services.

Additionally, Abdel Ghaffar highlighted the Egyptian state’s commitment to continuing to provide necessary preventive services to the people of Sudan during the ongoing crisis.

This includes conducting medical examinations and vaccinations for children under the age of 15, as well as combating disease vectors at border crossings since the start of the events in Sudan.

The meeting also covered the humanitarian and health assistance that Egypt is eager to offer to the people of Sudan until they can navigate through their crisis safely. It also emphasized the emergency and ambulance services provided. Mohamed Gad, Advisor to the Minister for External Health Relations, and Hatem Amer, Assistant Minister for International Relations, were also present during the meeting.
