Egypt, FAO mull a Project Focused on Empowering Rural Women Economically

Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy convened with FAO Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa, AbdulHakim Elwaer, on Thursday to deliberate on collaborative initiatives, particularly one focused on enhancing livelihoods, nutrition, and the empowerment of rural women.

This specific initiative is currently underway in Menya governorate. The initiative aims to benefit 2,000 families residing in ten villages encompassed by the Decent Life initiative, which seeks to advance rural areas.

It endeavors to establish 2,000 direct jobs and 2,000 seasonal jobs for women, youth, and individuals with disabilities. The meeting also encompassed dialogues regarding potential cooperation between the FAO and the Rural Crafts Support Fund.

According to Egypt Today, this collaboration has the potential to leverage the organization’s expertise in enhancing the quality of service provided to beneficiaries.
