Dr. Dina Helaly, a member of the Human Rights and Social Solidarity Committee in the Senate, said that the series produced by United Media Services Company has restored the Egyptian drama to its former era as the soft power that has a great influence not only on the level of the Egyptian viewer but also on the Arab and regional level by presenting a diverse map that accommodates different tastes and age groups in Egyptian society.
Helaly indicated that she was keen to broadcast national messages that serve the cohesion of society and preserve its identity and belonging, during the Ramadan season, especially since soft power is the main weapon and one of the most important mechanisms used to increase citizens’ awareness and spread positive values.
Moreover, UMS highlights through its dramas the steadfastness of our sons of the armed forces in the battles of terrorism and strengthens the spirit of belonging and patriotism among our children and future generations.
She further noted that UMS has succeeded in including cartoon works directed at children of all categories, which did not neglect deaf and dumb children by presenting sign language on the screen through the series “Yahya and Treasures 2”, to be a means towards consolidating cultural identity and building the minds of the young generation with positive and purposeful thinking, stressing that the embodiment of women’s issues and violence against them had a share in conveying their suffering and the attempts they are exposed to violate their rights.
Helaly conclude by emphasizing the company’s dedication and efforts that integrate with the role of the state in spreading awareness and changing thinking about outdated legacies and protecting them from crimes that violate their dignity and urging to expand the circle of women’s empowerment by shedding light on issues like the guardianship law after the death of the father or Husband, female circumcision, early marriage, and preventing Upper Egypt women from inheriting.
All that makes these works an important tool in changing the culture of society by opposing that thought in simple language and content that reaches every Egyptian home through the small screen.
