The Ministry of Health and Population announced on Tuesday, July 18, that residents of the village of El-Aliqat had tested positive for the dengue virus. The revelation comes after the Ministry began an inquiry into an unidentified virus that has affected 67 individuals in Qena.
The viral ailment known as dengue is caused by the dengue virus (DENV), which spreads to individuals through a mosquito bite.
The Ministry also confirmed that they dispatched a medical convoy shortly after the discovery of the virus to carry out field tests and offer treatment.
Although some blood samples tested positive for dengue fever after the investigations and samples showed the presence of the mosquito that spreads the disease, the Ministry did not say whether this was the case for all of them.
According to a statement from the Russian supervisory authority, health control, and quarantine measures for flights from Egypt have been increased in light of the news of the virus there.
To combat disease vectors and halt their spread, the Ministry of Health and Population declares that all preventative and precautionary measures are currently underway.
So far, all the infections that occurred are small and manageable at home. It has not been reported that any El-Aliqat residents have perished from dengue disease.
Sewage and wastewater sampling were used in addition to obtaining laboratory samples from sick individuals. Additionally, mosquito larvae were collected, and each sample was carefully evaluated at the Ministry’s labs.
