The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) has introduced a new initiative to offer female banking sector employees early detection and free treatment for breast cancer.

The program, named “Your Health is a Commitment” (Sehetak Amana), is a collaborative effort between CBE and the Baheya Foundation.

The Daily News reported that this inclusive program includes awareness seminars, support services, and medical checkups, ensuring that all female employees are part of this important mission.

This initiative, “Your Health is a Commitment” (Sehetak Amana), is not just a program. It’s a significant step that aligns with the National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women 2030, emphasizing the importance of women’s healthcare and our commitment to it.

Ghada Tawfik, the CBE’s Governor’s Advisor for Corporate Social Responsibility, expressed that the program reflects the bank’s dedication to empowering women and underlines the importance of women working in the banking sector in society and the economy.

The program was launched with a pilot phase for CBE female employees. The plan is to expand the initiative to cover all women in the banking sector in coordination with all banks operating in Egypt.

Jaylan Ahmed, CEO of the Baheya Foundation, commended the CBE’s efforts. She stated that this partnership is a step toward increasing awareness of early breast cancer detection, which can significantly boost recovery rates.

This initiative is part of the Central Bank of Egypt’s broader effort to support corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects, particularly in healthcare. The banking sector has significantly increased its contributions to CSR projects, with a focus on healthcare.

The sector has also contributed to the presidential initiative to reduce hospital waiting lists, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals and Egypt’s Vision 2030.

The Baheya Foundation has conducted over 1,600 awareness seminars across Egypt, reaching over 60,000 women in various institutions.

The foundation aims to provide healthcare services to around half a million women annually with the opening of the second phase of Baheya’s Hospital in Sheikh Zayed last March.
