The Aswan International Women’s Film Festival is now accepting film submissions for its ninth session, scheduled to take place from April 20 to 25, 2025. Films can be submitted via the festival’s official website from Thursday, October 3, until December 20.
The festival is seeking films that have yet to be publicly screened in Egypt. It specifically focuses on works that showcase women’s creativity, including those directed or written by women, as well as films that address women’s issues, equality, and emerging problems.
The festival includes two international competitions: one for feature films (fiction, documentary, animation) over 60 minutes and another for short films (fiction, documentary, animation) under 60 minutes. Additionally, there will be special programs, competitions, and screenings outside the competition.
The ninth session of the Aswan International Women’s Film Festival is named in honor of Umm Kulthum, the Lady of Arabic Singing, to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of her legacy. The festival is held under the auspices of the Ministries of Culture, Tourism, and Social Solidarity, the National Council for Women, the Aswan Governorate, and the Syndicate of Cinematographers.
