In 2014, Dina Abdel Fattah, Editor-in-Chief of Amwal Al Ghad Magazine, the leading Egyptian monthly publication which focuses on economy-related content, founded the Top 50 Most Influential Women Forum (Top50 Women). Abdel Fattah realized that although there was an increasing number of women achieving positions of influence in various economic sectors, there were no organized opportunities for them to gather, share ideas, and amplify their voices in decision-making processes.
In response to this need, she launched Egypt’s first-ever Top 50 Most Influential Women grand ceremony in January 2015, under the auspices of Egyptian Prime Minister, to elect 50 leading women in business, who made the most significant contributions to the Egyptian economy. The ceremony is held every year to highlight and recognize Egyptian women’s success stories.
The Forum acts as a growing network of Egypt’s most influential women in business, who are committed to a holistic approach of empowering women and strengthening their decision-making power and participation in the country’s reform processes.
Today, the Top 50 Women Forum has a current membership of over 150 most prominent and influential female ministers and executives in Finance, Banking, Investment, Trade, Tourism, Technology, Media, etc. By 2019, the Forum plans to include prominent women leaderships in the Middle East and North Africa.
