Egypt’s National Council for Women, UN Women, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), with support from the European Union, celebrated today the “Shaping the Future of Girls and Women” program under the broader Egyptian Women’s Empowerment initiative.
High-Level Dialogue on Advancing Women’s Empowerment in Egypt
According to the United Nations, the celebration featured a high-level dialogue with the program’s principal empowerment partners, including:
- Counselor Amal Ammar, President of the National Council for Women
- Ambassador Angelina Eichhorst, Head of the EU Delegation to Egypt and the Arab League
- Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports
- Elena Panova, UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt
- Dr. Abla El-Alfi, Deputy Minister for Population and Family Planning and President of the National Population Council
- Natalia Winder-Rossi, UNICEF Representative in Egypt

This dialogue highlighted ongoing cooperation between Egypt, UN agencies, and the European Union to expand opportunities for girls and women across education, health, protection, and economic empowerment.

The high-profile event took place at Al-Azhar Park in Cairo, gathering key government leaders, UN representatives, civil-society organizations, and female beneficiaries from several governorates.
