Dr. Maya Morsy, Minister of Social Solidarity, met with the new Chief Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Egypt, Ibisawa Yu,  in the presence of Ms. Amira Tag, Director of the General Department for International Relations and Agreements.

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between the Ministry and JICA under their joint project, “Improving the Quality of Early Childhood Development.”

Minister Morsy welcomed Mr. Ibisawa, wishing him success in his new role in Egypt, and praised the ongoing collaboration between the Ministry and JICA. She highlighted the success of their partnership, which led to the establishment of a child care center for employees’ children at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, based on the Japanese model. She further mentioned that all future nurseries in the New Administrative Capital would follow this model, with a third child care center scheduled to open soon after the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Social Solidarity centers are completed, aiming for readiness before the end of Ramadan.

Dr. Morsy emphasized that the recently inaugurated center at the Ministry’s headquarters is the first of its kind in a government agency in Egypt, and the first to be implemented in accordance with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directive following his visit to Japan, promoting the Japanese model for nurseries across the country.

In turn, Mr. Ibisawa expressed his happiness with the collaboration and affirmed that the JICA team would continue supporting the partnership. He also noted that JICA would have a dedicated office in the New Administrative Capital and would work diligently to further enhance cooperation with the Ministry in the future.
