The Nuclear and Radiological Regulatory Authority (NRRA) concluded its three-day workshop today on designing content for young visitors to Egypt’s public libraries. The workshop focused on nuclear applications and the regulatory role of the NRRA.
The event was organized by the Authority’s International Cooperation and Public Relations Department in collaboration with the Excellence Center. It received representatives from public libraries in Cairo, Banha, and Damietta, led by Dr. Ahmed Aman, General Coordinator of Egypt’s Public Libraries. This workshop marks the first phase of implementing the 2025 action plan, developed in accordance with the MoU signed between the NRRA and the Library Fund last October.
The workshop began with an opening speech by Dr. Maihatab El-Manawy, Head of International Cooperation and Public Relations at the NRRA, who thanked participants and emphasized the importance of the collaboration between the NRRA and public libraries across Egypt. She also highlighted the efforts of Dr. Ahmed Aman and Mr. Rami Afifi, Senior Specialist for Strategic Communication and International Cooperation at the NRRA, in formulating and swiftly launching the 2025 cooperation plan.
Over the three days, Dr. Abdel-Fattah Suleiman, Head of the Excellence Center, facilitated the workshop, providing a detailed yet accessible explanation of nuclear technology, its applications, and the NRRA’s regulatory role in overseeing nuclear and radiological activities across Egypt.
On the third day, Dr. Asmaa Salah, an inspector from the Radiation Source Safety Department, presented on the department’s efforts in regulating radiological facilities throughout the country. Dr. Mostafa Darwish, Head of Technical Support and Laboratories, also provided a detailed presentation on the latest equipment available at the NRRA, enabling the Authority to carry out its mission effectively.
The workshop was marked by interactive sessions and a lively exchange of ideas between the NRRA team and representatives from Egypt’s public libraries. These discussions led to the development of numerous innovative ideas that will be studied to maximize the benefits of the workshop.
