In a special meeting with researcher Yasmeen Mustafa, Dr. Osama El-Azhari, Minister of Islamic Endowments, presented her with the ministry’s shield in recognition of her outstanding achievements in the fields of science and technology. Yasmeen had previously earned global recognition, having won first place at the 2015 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in the United States.
This recognition aligns with the Ministry of Islamic Endowments’ strategic focus on promoting the production of civilization and scientific progress.
The minister praised Yasmeen Mustafa’s remarkable accomplishments, emphasizing how her success underscores the potential of Egyptian youth to excel in various fields, especially in scientific research and technology. Dr. El-Azhari expressed that her success is a source of inspiration for future generations and an example of the importance of supporting research and encouraging talent.
He also called on Yasmeen to conduct specialized training sessions for preachers and educators on guiding mosque audiences towards innovation and creativity, with a focus on nurturing intellectual minds. These sessions are to be held at the International Awqaf Academy.
Additionally, the Minister acknowledged the international recognition received by Yasmeen, noting that NASA named one of the newly discovered asteroids “Mustafa” in tribute to her contributions to environmental research. Furthermore, her success story was chosen by the Heinmann Publishing Company to be included in educational curricula in schools and libraries across the United States.
