The Egyptian government has released data showcasing the significant achievements of the President’s Initiative for Women’s Health since its launch in July 2019. The initiative, aimed at improving the health and well-being of Egyptian women, has reached millions across the country.
Focusing on women aged 18 and above, the initiative provides crucial services encompassing the early detection of non-communicable diseases, education on risk factors associated with these diseases, and awareness campaigns promoting reproductive health and family planning.
According to the released figures, the initiative has facilitated an impressive 56.4 million visits by women seeking check-ups and health education. This substantial number reflects the program’s extensive reach and the high demand for its services. The visits are categorized as 22.40 million first-time visits, 21.70 million regular follow-up visits, and 12.3 million casual visits, demonstrating both initial engagement and sustained participation.
The initiative’s infrastructure comprises 3,663 health units and 102 hospitals strategically located to maximize accessibility for women across Egypt. Beyond general check-ups and awareness campaigns, the initiative has also made significant strides in specialized screenings. Since its inception, 403,000 mammograms have been conducted, and 47,000 tumor samples have been collected and analyzed, enabling early detection and intervention for potential health issues.
A key component of the program is the provision of free treatment for women diagnosed with health conditions identified through the initiative’s screenings. This commitment to accessible healthcare underscores the government’s dedication to ensuring that all women, regardless of their socioeconomic status, receive the necessary care.
The data was released by the Ministry of Health and Population and the Cabinet’s Media Center and is available on the government website, www.cabinet.gov.eg. The release concludes with the powerful message: “The Egyptian woman is the health of Egypt,” highlighting the crucial role women play in the nation’s overall well-being.
