The Science and Technology Development Fund (STDF) of Egypt, in collaboration with Spain’s Center for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI), has launched the ninth edition of their Egyptian-Spanish technological cooperation program. The initiative will further deepen the ties between the two nations, with a focus on bridging scientific research with industrial application in areas critical to economic and social progress.
The program offers an exciting opportunity for Egyptian researchers to transform their scientific breakthroughs into real-world industrial solutions, addressing pressing challenges across various sectors such as agriculture, water management, renewable energy, healthcare, construction, and transportation. In addition, it aims to drive innovation and technological transfer between Egypt and Spain, fostering economic growth and enhancing competitiveness on both sides.
Dr. Ayman Ashour emphasized that this collaboration is a vital step towards aligning research with industry needs, contributing to sustainable development and positioning Egypt as a global hub for innovation. By working closely with Spain, Egypt stands to benefit from cutting-edge technological advancements and further strengthen its industrial base.
Dr. Walaa Shata, Executive Director of the STDF, highlighted that the program represents a strategic effort to integrate scientific research with industrial applications, empowering Egyptian researchers and companies to establish valuable international partnerships. He added that this collaboration is crucial for creating innovative solutions to shared challenges, with the potential to drive sustainable development and create new economic opportunities.
Applications are open to Ph.D. holders who are affiliated with Egyptian research institutions, provided they collaborate with both Egyptian and Spanish industrial partners. Selected projects will receive funding of up to €150,000, with an application deadline of April 30, 2025.
This joint initiative underscores the growing importance of international collaborations in accelerating technological progress, and it promises to play a pivotal role in Egypt’s continued economic transformation.
