The Egyptian government will transform El Qasr El Ainy Hospital into a globally recognized medical complex by 2027, as part of its broader development plan for the healthcare sector.
During a meeting held on Sunday, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly reviewed the plans for the development of Qasr El-Ainy hospitals, which are part of Cairo University’s medical facilities. The meeting also discussed the proposal to allocate new land to accommodate the growing student population at Helwan University.

Expansion Plans for Cairo University Hospitals
Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ayman Ashour, revealed in September that the development project for Cairo University’s hospitals includes increasing the hospital’s footprint to approximately 280,000 square meters. This expansion is expected to provide exceptional medical services to over two million patients annually from across Egypt’s governorates, alleviate traffic congestion in the area, and offer additional parking spaces.
The development will also adhere to international medical standards, including the General Authority for Accreditation and Health Regulation’s guidelines, ensuring high-quality care.
Proposed Expansion for Helwan University
In addition to El Qasr El Ainy development, the government is also considering an expansion proposal for Helwan University. The proposed new campus, located in one of East Cairo’s new cities, aims to accommodate an increasing number of students and offer new academic programs. Madbouly gave his preliminary approval to the proposal, which will provide expanded services and facilities for students.
