The Ministry of Social Solidarity announced that it will grant 1,637 funding packages to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in 2024, totaling more than EGP 14.5 billion. This marks a significant increase compared to 2023, when 1,186 grants were approved, amounting to over EGP 5.5 billion.
This initiative is part of the ministry’s efforts to enhance support for civil society organizations in implementing social and humanitarian projects and initiatives across the country. The ministry further emphasized that only a small percentage of grant applications—about 0.3%—were rejected in 2024, primarily due to incomplete documentation, reflecting the ministry’s commitment to supporting deserving and promising projects.
The ministry also highlighted that the largest grants were provided by international donors, including the United States, the UAE, Kuwait, various UN agencies, Germany, France, Saudi Arabia, and the UK, which underscores the fruitful international collaboration and support the ministry receives from its global partners.
The increase in grants aims to support a broader range of programs aimed at improving quality of life and promoting social stability in the beneficiary communities. These grants are directed towards projects in areas such as healthcare, hospital construction and patient treatment, human rights, refugee and migrant support, social welfare, youth employment, disaster relief, women’s and children’s rights, anti-violence initiatives, and programs for people with disabilities, as well as educational, environmental, and economic development projects.
The Ministry of Social Solidarity is overseeing the allocation of these grants in collaboration with community institutions, ensuring the effective distribution of funds for social and economic development.
