Dr. Amal Ammar,  National Council for Women’s Chairperson, stated that violence against women is a global issue requiring coordinated and continuous efforts across all levels. She emphasized that Egypt is deeply committed to tackling this issue, as part of the country’s broader national strategy to empower women by 2030, which ensures their rights and protection from all forms of violence.

In her remarks, Dr. Ammar pointed out that the Egyptian Constitution provides a strong legal foundation for protecting women, citing Article 11, which states that “the state is committed to protecting women from all forms of violence.” This reflects the government’s deep commitment to providing a safe environment for women and combating any harmful behaviors directed toward them.

Dr. Amal Ammar further explained that the National Council for Women is organizing a series of cultural and awareness-raising activities during the 16 Days of Activism campaign to combat violence against women, taking place across all governorates of Egypt. Through these activities, the Council aims to increase societal awareness about this critical issue and offer support to women who have been subjected to violence.

The 16 Days of Activism campaign, launched by the United Nations, aims to raise awareness and rally public opinion both locally and internationally to oppose all forms of violence against women and girls. The campaign highlights this global issue and calls on both local and international communities to work toward finding sustainable solutions to combat violence against women.

The campaign continues to engage society in these efforts, with the ultimate goal of creating a world where women are safe and protected from violence.
