In a bid to combat violence against women, the National Council for Women (NCW) has launched the “Knock on Doors” campaign under the slogan “Your Right to Live in Safety,” as part of the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. The launch of this initiative was in collaboration with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and CARE Egypt and will run for five days under the framework of the “Ending Violence Against Women and Girls” program.

The campaign aims to raise awareness among families about key issues of gender-based violence affecting women and girls, including the risks of early marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM), and domestic violence. It also seeks to inform the public about the policies and measures in place to protect women and girls from various forms of violence. The campaign will target six governorates: Sohag, Assiut, Fayoum, Beheira, Sharqia, and Dakahlia.

The goal is to reach 45,000 families, with tailored messages that address the unique challenges and needs of each governorate. A two-day training workshop brought together  300 female community leaders from the NCW to equip them with the skills to effectively communicate these awareness messages and engage local communities. This training  targrets fostering positive and sustainable interaction with the issues affecting women and girls in the targeted areas.
