Al Gharbia Governor, Ashraf Al-Jundi, accompanied by Deputy Governor Mahmoud Issa, recently hosted a delegation from the Ministry of Planning, Monitoring and Economic Reform. The delegation, comprised of international organizations, the “Be an Ambassador for Sustainable Development” initiative, E-Consult Engineering and Environmental Consultancy, and representatives from civil society and the private sector, visited the model village of Nahtay.
The visit aimed to highlight the village’s achievements in sustainability and development, as it has been certified as a green rural community under the “Green Village” initiative and the “Decent Life” project. The delegation reviewed the projects that enabled Nahtay to become a model for other villages under the national “Decent Life” initiative, as part of Egypt’s participation in the upcoming World Urban Forum (WUF) in November 2024.
The visit began with a captivating video showcasing the remarkable transformation of Nahtay before and after the “Decent Life” initiative. The video highlighted the significant improvements in the quality of life for the village’s residents.
In his address, Governor Al-Jundi emphasized the profound impact of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s “Decent Life” initiative on the rural communities of Al Gharbia, particularly in Zifta Center. He highlighted the extensive infrastructure projects undertaken, including natural gas, potable water, sanitation, electricity, and telecommunications, as well as improvements in healthcare and education.
