President Al-Sisi Attends 16th BRICS Summit in Kazan

News Agencies
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi arrived in Kazan on Tuesday for the 16th BRICS Summit, marking Egypt’s first participation in the group since its official accession earlier this year. The three-day summit, hosted in the southwestern Russian city, represents a significant moment for Egypt as BRICS expands to include new members such as the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, and Iran.
The summit will also provide a platform for President Al-Sisi to articulate Egypt’s vision on pressing global challenges, including the urgent need for reform in the global financial structure. He aims to promote the interests of developing countries, particularly in light of the adverse effects of international conflicts and crises on their development.
Additionally, the President plans to address climate change and explore avenues for enhancing economic cooperation among BRICS member states. He will underscore Egypt’s commitment to de-escalation in the Middle East, advocating for efforts to prevent the expansion of conflict in the region, which threatens both local resources and international peace.
Al-Sisi will also participate in the BRICS Plus summit, which includes influential countries and organizations beyond the original BRICS members. He intends to stress the importance of South-South cooperation in addressing shared challenges.
In addition to his meeting with President Putin, Al-Sisi is expected to engage with various leaders at the summit to further discussions on bilateral relations and collaboration on key regional and global issues.
