Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi expressed Cairo’s support for Beirut and instructed the immediate dispatch of aid during a phone call with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati, as reported by the Egyptian presidency.
According to Anadolu Ajansı, El-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s full support for Lebanon, standing by its side during these critical circumstances. He also rejected any attempts to jeopardize Lebanon’s security, stability, sovereignty, or territorial integrity. El-Sisi emphasized the need for an immediate, comprehensive, and permanent ceasefire in both Lebanon and Gaza.
The Egyptian president directed the immediate deployment of emergency medical and relief aid to Lebanon in solidarity with its people. He further assured continued support for Lebanon at all levels.
El-Sisi highlighted the international community’s responsibility to halt aggressive actions towards the Palestinian territories and Lebanon. He warned that the failure to do so could lead to a dangerous escalation in the region, threatening regional and international stability and peace.
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s support and reviewed the Lebanese government’s efforts to contain the situation. He also praised Egypt’s role in restoring security and stability in the region.
The text also mentioned the cross-border conflict between Hezbollah and Israel since the start of Israel’s attacks on the Gaza Strip, resulting in numerous casualties, particularly among women and children.
The international community has cautioned against strikes on Lebanon, as they could escalate the Gaza conflict into a regional war.
