The National Council for Women, through the Anti-Violence Unit, organized a workshop on the national guide to eliminate female genital mutilation (FGM).
The two-day workshop targeted health service providers, including doctors from women’s units in university hospitals. It was held in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund as part of the National Committee for the Elimination of FGM’s efforts.
The event witnessed the attendance of Counselor Sanaa Khalil, Vice President of the Council; Isis Mahmoud, Head of the Central Administration for Training and Development; Shaimaa Naeem, Director General of the Strategic Administration; Germaine Haddad, Assistant Representative of Egypt to the United Nations Population Fund; Dr. Amal Philip, Medical Advisor to the Unit; Dr. Rahab Abdel Rahman, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University; and Dr. Dina Shukry, Professor of Forensic Medicine at Cairo University. The event spanned two days.
