Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsy announced that the monumental ‘Takaful and Karama’ program has welcomed 271,288 new families since July 2024, underscoring its significant impact.
The program, using a comprehensive approach, has conducted approximately 1.2 million economic empowerment interventions during this time. It has also arranged internal exhibitions and launched training programs to help beneficiaries manage small projects, ensuring a holistic support system.
As part of the “New Beginning” initiative, the Minister stated that around 150 of the most vulnerable families have been provided housing.
These updates were shared during a Sunday meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly at the Cabinet headquarters in New Alamein City. The Minister presented the executive plan for the Ministry of Social Solidarity’s program, which is aligned with the government’s agenda for July 1 to December 31, 2024.
The Ministry has set up an operations room to monitor the disbursement of assistance through the Takaful and Karama programs. Governors, directors of social solidarity directorates, and the Egyptian Red Crescent coordinate to manage and intervene in case of congestion or crowding during the payment process.
It’s important to note that, as per the president’s directives, the funding for the Takaful and Karama program has reached EGP 41 billion for the current fiscal year. The program currently benefits nearly 21 million citizens, representing around 5.2 million families.
