The Egyptian Ministry of State for Military Production commemorated Egyptian Women’s Day by recognizing the achievements of 19 female employees who graduated from the National Program for Women Leadership.
Minister Mohamed Salah emphasized the state’s commitment to empowering women and elevating their roles in society. This initiative aligns with the national project promoting women’s engagement in public life.
The National Program for Women Leadership is part of a broader collaboration between the National Council for Women (NCW), the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD), and the International Labor Organization (ILO). This partnership, launched in 2019 and running until 2024, aims to equip women with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in leadership positions.
The Ministry’s press release also acknowledged the significance of Egyptian Women’s Day, which falls on March 16th. The date commemorates a historic 1919 march where approximately 300 Egyptian women, led by feminist icon Huda Shaarawi, protested against British occupation. This event marked a turning point in the fight for women’s rights in Egypt, with Hamida Khalil tragically becoming the first female martyr on that day.
