Born into a long line of well-established Egyptian artists, Nahed Farid Shawki passed away last Tuesday due to a sudden health crisis.
The legendary comedian Farid Shawki and the 1960s icon Hoda Sultan welcomed the late 72-year-old into the world on December 25, 1950. She’s half-sister to Egypt’s superstar Rania Farid Shawki.
Her first husband Medhat El-Sebaei, who subsequently wed the well-known actress Sawsan Badr and then remarried artist Dalia El-Behairy, left her son Farid El-Morshedy with an artistic family. Nahed El-Sebaei, Shawki’s daughter, is a renowned actress as well.
Shawki owned a production company that contributed to the release of numerous significant movies.
Among these well-known movies are Men Nazret Ein (2003), starring Amr Waked and Mona Zaki, Hysteria (1998), which starred Ahmed Zaki and Abla Kamel, and Al-Bo’asaa (the Egyptian adaptation of Les Misérables, 1978).
In addition, Shawki served as an executive producer for several TV series, including Hadith Al Sabah wal Masa’ & Lan A’eesh fi Gelbab Aby.
