Mexican Actress Melissa Barrera has recently opened up about what she was grateful for in 2023 as it draws to a close and 2024 begins.

The actress expressed her gratitude for the friendships she made, the time she spent with loved ones and the challenges she overcame on both a personal and professional level in a lengthy Instagram post.

She captioned her post: I’m grateful for a lot in 2023. For the time with loved ones, for the friends I made, and for the challenges I took on both professional and personal, but mostly I am grateful for Palestine. l am grateful that they lifted the veil and that I, along with so many others, have woken up.

Barrera added: I hope that 2024 brings peace and liberation. I hope that in this new year, all systems of oppression are dismantled and equal human rights for all are actually for all.

She ended her post, stating: Lastly, I wish all those who stayed silent for whatever reason (fear, ignorance, denial) find their voice in 2024 #FreePolestine #FreeCongo #FreeSudan.

Free us all from giving away our power by staying in complicit silence. May you have a hopeful New Year, she concluded.

According to Health officials in Gaza’s report at the end of 2023, the death toll in Palestine has surpassed 21,672 Palestinians, with over 56,000 injured and thousands more believed dead under the rubbles caused by ongoing Israeli airstrikes.

It is worth noting that Barrera has previously faced an intense backlash over her stance on Palestine and was even believed to have been kicked out of the “Scream” franchise due to her support of the Palestinian cause, which was later denied by the movie makers, who insisted that the actresses sudden exit from the 7th edition of the movie has nothing to do with her political views.
