Top 50 Women Forum’s Estimated Growth Rate of Palestinian Women and Girls Wars During Israeli Aggression

Dina Abdel Fattah

Based on a statement from UN Women, the Top 50 Women Forum issued facts and figures updates on women and girls during the war in Gaza on November 11 & 22, calculating and showing the growth rate between the two days.

The displayed data, consisting of estimated figures, shows how women and girls in Gaza have endured attacks and displacement, as well as social and economic disruptions, since 7 October.

Women living in Gaza have unique and urgent needs and vulnerabilities, both relating to the current conflict and due to structural gender discrimination, including laws in Palestine that assume women to be under the protection and guardianship of men.

Such structures increase women’s risks of gender-based violence and food insecurity and make them more likely than men to be living in sub-standard temporary shelters when displaced.
