Egypt will participate in the upcoming Miss Universe competition, which will take place in January 2024 in the United States, after a three-year break.
Yugen Group, based in Dubai and holding the franchise rights to Miss Universe Bahrain and Miss Universe Pakistan, will also host Miss Universe Egypt to select a contestant for the competition, which is one of the world’s longest-running and most-watched beauty pageants.
In 2019, model Diana Hamed represented Egypt at the Miss Universe pageant held in Atlanta, Georgia.
Applications are now open for the 2023 competition in Egypt, and contestants must be Egyptian nationals or holders of an Egyptian passport between the ages of 18 and 28 with no minimum height requirement. Marital status is not a factor.
In a statement, Josh Yugen, founder and CEO of Yugen Group, expressed his excitement at the opportunity to empower and provide a platform for women, adding that the franchise of Miss Universe Bahrain was successful and respectful of the country’s culture.
