Major General Hisham Amna, Minister of Local Development, received Dr. Maya Morsi, President of the National Council for Women, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, in the presence of several leaders from the Ministry and the Council.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Local Development praised the important role played by the National Council for Women in the governorates in terms of supporting the state’s efforts.
Major General Hisham Amna also praised the efforts of Dr. Maya Morsi to advance the status of Egyptian women in various areas of the Council’s work, pointing out that Egyptian women are living their golden age during the era of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
For her part, Dr. Maya Morsi, President of the National Council for Women, extended her sincere thanks and appreciation to Major General Hisham Amna for his fruitful cooperation and support for the Council and its branches in the governorates. She also thanked all the governors for their unwavering support of the Council and its branches in the governorates.
Moreover, she reviewed the Council’s efforts in the issue of empowering and protecting women through launching various projects and programs in all governorates, besides highlighting the Council’s efforts within the National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Family.
Dr. Morsi further confirmed that the Council pays great attention to the awareness axis as it is an axis that intersects with the axes of the National Strategy for Empowering Egyptian Women 2030.
In turn, the Minister of Local Development stressed the interest that the President attaches to empowering Egyptian women in light of the state’s launch of the National Strategy for Women’s Empowerment 2030 economically, politically, and socially.
He additionally affirmed the Ministry’s interest is in the axis of economic empowerment of women in Egyptian villages and cities through small, medium, and micro projects through the “Mashrou’ak” program and the Local Development Fund, in addition to the initiative launched by the Ministry on the Egyptian Women’s Day celebration in 2021 to support the craft and heritage products that characterize villages, empower women economically, and market and promote their products internally and externally.
The Major General concluded the meeting by underlining the transformative role played by women in the field of local administration in the Ministry and the governorates and their assumption of many leadership positions during the recent period in many governorates and the Ministry’s general office.
