Egypt’s First Lady Spearheads “Together, Through Awareness, We Protect It” Event, Advocating for Women’s Leadership in Egypt

On February 2, 2025, Egypt witnessed a monumental event titled “Together, Through Awareness, We Protect It,” under the patronage of First Lady Intisar El-Sisi, and organized by the National Council for Women (NCW), headed by Judge Amal Ammar. The celebration underscored the vital importance of national awareness in overcoming intellectual and social challenges, promoting societal progress, and empowering women as key drivers of Egypt’s future.

First Lady’s  Call for National Awareness
In her address at the event, El-Sisi stressed Egypt’s steadfast commitment to spreading awareness as a means of combating disinformation and societal risks. She emphasized that awareness is a potent weapon in ensuring the nation’s safety and securing a bright future for future generations. Her speech underscored the importance of keeping citizens informed and engaged as a key element of safeguarding Egypt’s stability and prosperity.

Role of Awareness in Building Resilient Societies
Opening the event, Judge Amal Ammar delivered a compelling speech highlighting how awareness serves as the foundation for societal progress.

She drew inspiration from Egypt’s rich history, citing  Queen Hatshepsut and modern-day Egyptian women who have faced adversity. Ammar also highlighted the National Council for Women’s success in using social media platforms to engage with the public, raise awareness on societal issues, and support women’s rights in Egypt.

A Documentary Tribute: Celebrating Egypt’s Leading Women
One of the event’s highlights was the screening of an inspiring documentary titled “The Egyptian Woman.” The film celebrated the contributions of pioneering Egyptian women such as Huda Sha’arawi, Rawya Ateya, Helana Siderous, and Latifa al-Nadi, whose legacies have significantly shaped Egypt’s cultural and political landscape.

Cultural Messages Through Poetry and Cinema
The event also featured a poignant poem by student Malak Hany, which captured the essence of awareness in protecting Egypt. Additionally, a short film based on the theories of former Soviet agent Thomas Schuman examined four key phases of societal destruction: moral decay, instability, manufactured crises, and intellectual domination.

A Panel on Raising Awareness in the Digital Age: Experts Weigh In

A thought-provoking panel discussion, moderated by media personality Riham Al-Deeb, featured prominent intellectuals and social leaders. Sarah Aziz, founder of SAFE Company, spoke on the importance of educating children through stories and engaging in meaningful conversations with them. Aziz emphasized that modern tools, such as free online courses, can significantly aid in addressing issues surrounding child development.

The Role of Parents in Shaping the Future
Writer and thinker Khaled Ghattaas remarked that while social media is often regarded as a double-edged sword, its negative impacts outweigh the positive. He advocated for families to come together at least once a day to share a meal, emphasizing that such practices can help mitigate addiction and various social challenges. Dalia Ibrahim, Chairwoman of Nahdet Misr Publishing House, further stressed the importance of the mother’s role in shaping the success of her children, citing a 75-year study from Harvard that demonstrated how mothers contributed to the achievements of the men studied.

The Role of Values and National Loyalty in Child Development
Islamic preacher Mustafa Hosni explored the influence of parents on children’s behavior and attitudes, emphasizing the importance of psychological, familial, and moral guidance. He also highlighted that national loyalty is deeply rooted in faith, and parents’ support for their daughters is crucial in developing strong and successful women.

The Impact of Electronic Games on Children
A segment of the event was dedicated to discussing the harmful effects of electronic games on children’s psychological and physical health. Studies have shown that certain games contribute to depression, suicidal tendencies, and aggressive behavior. Experts like Dr. Taher Nasr, HR management expert, discussed how parents can play a vital role in raising awareness about these issues.

Musical Tribute and National Anthem
The celebration concluded with an extraordinary musical performance by the Youth Ministry’s choir, who performed beloved patriotic songs such as “Ya Aghla Ism Fi El Wogood” (“O Dearest Name in Existence”) and “Helwa Balady” (“My Sweet Country”). The audience also enjoyed a performance of the song “We Protect It Through Awareness” by artist Louay, which resonated deeply with attendees.
