In a high-level meeting at the Cabinet headquarters in New Alamein, Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly met with Cedric Cremers, Global Head of Integrated Gas at Shell, to review the company’s investment footprint and future exploration plans in Egypt. Also present were Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi and Shell Egypt Chairperson Dalia El Gabry.
Dr. Madbouly reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting Shell’s operations, stressing the government’s focus on honoring financial obligations to foreign partners and boosting upstream activity across key concession areas. “We see Shell’s presence as vital to Egypt’s energy ecosystem,” Madbouly said, adding that regular updates on the company’s activities are being reviewed at the cabinet level.
Cremers emphasized Egypt’s strategic importance to Shell, revealing that the country now ranks fifth globally in exploration priorities. He reiterated the company’s commitment to ongoing cooperation with the Egyptian government, particularly in gas supply security, regional collaboration, and sustainable energy development.
Shell’s top executive also expressed interest in funneling Gulf-based investments into Egypt’s gas sector, pointing to promising exploration results and growing investor confidence.
Minister Badawi commended Shell for its role in boosting gas output and supplying LNG shipments. He also highlighted plans for expanded collaboration in the deployment of environmentally responsible technologies, including civil safety innovations and emissions-conscious exploration tools.
Shell Egypt Chairperson Dalia El Gabry detailed the company’s community outreach programs, as well as its commitment to localizing global best practices in environmental and safety standards.
Prime Minister Madbouly concluded the meeting by expressing strong interest in seeing Shell scale up its investment footprint in Egypt, leveraging both favorable geological prospects and the government’s stable fiscal policies, including the timely payment of dues to foreign partners.
