Al Tadamun Microfinance Foundation Expands Partnership With NBE, Secures Additional EGP 100 Million Credit Facility

In a move aimed at strengthening women-led microenterprises across Egypt, Al Tadamun Microfinance Foundation announced an expanded financing agreement with the National Bank of Egypt (NBE), raising its total credit facilities to EGP 700 million. The additional EGP 100 million will enable the foundation to broaden its outreach to female entrepreneurs nationwide.

Mona Zulficar, Chair of Al Tadamun’s Board of Trustees, expressed pride in extending the long-standing partnership with NBE, one of Egypt’s oldest and largest financial institutions.
“We are honored to strengthen our cooperation with the National Bank of Egypt — a partnership that has been ongoing since 2008,” she said. “This expansion aligns with the directives of the Central Bank of Egypt and the Financial Regulatory Authority to reinforce the role of the microenterprise sector as a cornerstone of national economic growth.”

Zulficar added that the agreement supports Al Tadamun’s strategy to reach the largest possible segment of women borrowers across the country, directly contributing to economic empowerment, financial inclusion and the broader goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030 sustainable development agenda.

18 Years of Strategic Cooperation With NBE

Riham Farouk, CEO of Al Tadamun Microfinance Foundation, highlighted the depth of the foundation’s strategic relationship with NBE over nearly two decades.
“Our partnership includes cumulative credit lines now totaling EGP 700 million, salary disbursement for Al Tadamun employees, and facilitating loan disbursements to clients through Meeza cards at ATM machines,” Farouk said.

She emphasized that Al Tadamun continues to design innovative and tailored financing mechanisms to meet the diverse needs of its women clients — enabling them to grow their businesses, generate new job opportunities and improve the overall living standards of their families, which in turn boosts national productivity.

Expansion in Digital Payments and Diverse Loan Programs

Karim Gomaa, Chief Financial Officer of Al Tadamun, noted that the foundation has issued more than 138,000 Meeza cards to clients — in cooperation with NBE — as of October 2025.
He highlighted the organization’s wide portfolio of lending programs, including:

  • Group lending
  • Individual loans
  • “Forza” loan program
  • “Step” loan program
  • Gold loan
  • Family financing for equipment and transport
  • Individual Plus financing

Gomaa added that Al Tadamun’s strong credit history enables it to secure partnerships with various lenders, currently collaborating with 12 banks operating in Egypt. These agreements, he said, underpin the foundation’s ambitious expansion strategy and support expected strong growth in both loan portfolios and client numbers in the coming period.
