Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Maya Morsy, conducted a field inspection of the newly upgraded Bulaq Social Affairs Office, now relocated to the Maspero Towers area, as part of the ministry’s wider effort to modernize and humanize social services across the country.
The visit highlighted a renewed government focus on improving accessibility and the quality of services provided to Egyptian citizens. Dr. Morsy received a comprehensive briefing from the office’s director on operational procedures, visitor feedback, and challenges facing staff and beneficiaries. She praised the local office leadership, particularly applauding the head of the Bulaq unit as a “distinguished female leader.”
During her tour, Dr. Morsy issued directives to streamline bureaucratic processes, eliminate any obstacles faced by citizens, and accelerate service delivery. “The dignity of every Egyptian citizen must be reflected in the service they receive,” she emphasized.
The inspection comes within the context of a broader ministerial initiative aimed at transforming underperforming or inadequately located social service offices across Egypt. In recent years, the Ministry of Social Solidarity has implemented sweeping changes, including the merging of 149 adjacent social units into more efficient centralized offices and relocating 93 others to upgraded facilities.
With these developments, the total number of operational social solidarity units nationwide now stands at 2,506, following extensive restructuring that considered both population density and geographic access.
Dr. Morsy was accompanied during her Cairo and Giza tour by a senior delegation including Mr. Ayman Abdel Mawgoud, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry; Dr. Mohamed El-Aqabi, Assistant Minister for Strategic Communication and Official Spokesperson; Ms. Dina El-Sirfy, Assistant Minister for International Cooperation; Mr. Hesham Mohamed, Head of the Minister’s Office; Mr. Rami Abbas, Ministerial Advisor for Protocol and Exhibitions; Mr. Mohamed Kamal, Head of the Central Department of Directorates Affairs; and Mr. Mohamed Youssef, Head of the Rapid Intervention Task Force.
The ministry’s reforms are part of a national push to professionalize public service delivery, ensuring that every Egyptian, regardless of socio-economic status, has dignified access to essential social protection programs.
