The grand opening of Genesis’ first permanent showroom in Africa took place last Friday in New Cairo, one of Egypt’s most modern business districts. The elegant retail space, launched in collaboration with local partner GB Auto, introduces Egyptian consumers to three of the brand’s most cutting-edge electric models:

Speaking at the launch, Omar Al-Zubaidi, CEO of Genesis Middle East and Africa, highlighted the strategic importance of the Egyptian market.
With its population of over 100 million, Egypt represents a vital gateway to Africa’s growing appetite for premium and sustainable vehicles. The move also builds on Genesis’ regional success across the Middle East, where the brand has become synonymous with bespoke luxury—even tailoring vehicles for local royals and dignitaries.
From Mauritius to the Nile
While Genesis dipped its toes into the African market with a pop-up showroom in Mauritius last year, this Egypt launch is a significant elevation of its footprint. Positioned as both a commercial and cultural bridge between the Middle East and Africa, Egypt offers a uniquely promising landscape for the brand’s long-term growth.
Backed by stellar Middle Eastern sales—rising from just over 1,000 units in 2020 to more than 8,000 in 2024—Genesis is strategically using this momentum to expand across Africa, with electric vehicles (EVs) at the heart of the strategy.
According to Statista, Africa’s EV market is currently valued at $200 million and is expected to grow by 10% annually, reaching $314 million by 2029.
