Ministers of Planning and Investment Discuss Shared Agenda Items

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, met with Mr. Hassan El-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, to talk about common issues between their ministries and the priorities for the future.

They discussed plans to emphasize domestic and foreign investments and regulate public spending to allow more involvement from the private sector. They also discussed working with the World Bank Group to encourage foreign investment and implementing reform policies with partners like the World Bank, the European Union, and the African Development Bank.

Both ministers stressed the importance of working together to achieve the government’s economic goals and create an attractive investment economy.

They highlighted the need for coordination to enhance the efficiency of public investments, involve the private sector, and promote sustainable growth and job opportunities.

They also mentioned ongoing efforts to promote direct foreign investment and the government’s decision to limit public investments to increase the private sector’s role in development.

Al-Mashat emphasized the need for close coordination with other ministries and authorities to prioritize investment spending and improve the effectiveness of development plans.

In turn, Minister El-Khatib confirmed the focus on improving the investment environment and the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy, along with efforts to coordinate with international partners and the private sector to expand sectors that contribute to the economy’s stability and development.
