Egypt’s Football Team is Aiming for their First-ever Medal, Elgendy is starting his Pentathlon Campaign

Today’s bronze medal match will see the U-23 football team pitted against Morocco following their 3-1 loss to hosts France in the semifinals.

Throughout the tournament, Egypt’s football team demonstrated resilience but was unable to overcome the strong French side.

A victory against Morocco could secure a medal for Egypt and offer hope after the semifinal setback.

According to al Ahram online website Tomorrow, Egypt’s pentathlon duo, Ahmed Elgendy and Mohanad Shaban, will begin their Olympic journey with the fencing ranking round.

Elgendy, who won a silver medal in Tokyo, is aiming for gold this time and will be competing alongside Shaban to bring home a medal for Egypt. The women’s pentathlon will also be in action tomorrow, with Salma Abdel-Maksoud and Malak Ismail participating in the fencing ranking round.

Both athletes are aiming for a strong start to their individual campaigns. In other sports, Taekwondo athlete Ahmed Nassar will have a tough match against France’s Souleymane Alaphilippe in the round of 16.

Rhythmic gymnast Aliaa Saleh will compete in the individual all-around qualifying round, while wrestler Gamal Abdelnasser will start his campaign against Darian Toi Cruz of Puerto Rico in the 57kg freestyle round of 16. Finally, cyclist Youssef Zaky Abouelhassan will take part in the men’s omnium, commencing with the scratch race.
