Minister of Culture Dr. Nevine Al Kilany inaugurated last Friday the 31st Salah El Din Citadel Festival at the Cairo Opera House.
The festival’s first night kicked off, featuring some light shows with a musical background dedicated to the citadel and its history before Syrian vocalist Faya Younan stole the show that evening.
This edition is launched in honor of Mostafa Nagy and Shawky Hegab and is set to last until September 7.
During the opening ceremony, the minister honored Ahmed Mounib, Shawky Hegab, Abdel Hamid Ghafar, Riham Abdel Hakim, Nayer Nagui, and Tahiya Shams El Din, among other artists.
Minister Kilany praised the efforts of all the stakeholders involved in organizing the event. And in turn, the Director of the Cairo Opera House, Khaled Dagher, praised the ministry for supporting the event.
Al Kilany further emphasized that the festival is one of the main events he organizes and that it caters to the audience in Egypt.
She continued by saying that the festival aims to introduce new musical styles while also preserving the musical history of Egypt and the Arab world.
