Promoting Egypt’s cultural tourism infrastructure, the Commercial International Bank (CIB) has signed a medium-term financing agreement worth EGP 963 million with OSL Entertainment Projects, a subsidiary of Orascom Investment Holding, to support the full-scale redevelopment of the Giza Pyramids sound and light show and related visitor facilities.
The financing package will cover construction, civil works, and advanced equipment procurement, including cutting-edge projection and lighting technologies to create an immersive storytelling experience that showcases the history of the Pyramids and the Great Sphinx.
The initiative forms a key part of the Giza 2030 Tourism Development Plan, which aims to reposition the world-famous site as a global cultural and entertainment destination.
Revitalizing a Heritage Icon
The new show will integrate high-definition visuals, dynamic lighting systems, and multilingual narration to offer visitors a dramatic retelling of ancient Egypt’s legacy—elevating the experience beyond traditional tourism models and catering to diverse global audiences.
The project includes a comprehensive infrastructure upgrade across the entire archaeological zone, designed to accommodate the needs of modern travelers while preserving the site’s historical significance.
Key infrastructure improvements will include:
- Streamlined traffic flow and internal mobility within the archaeological area
- Expanded parking for tourist buses and private vehicles
- Accessibility upgrades for people with disabilities
- Installation of digital guide stations, official souvenir shops, modern cafés and restaurants, and clear directional signage
These features aim to improve crowd management, visitor comfort, and overall site functionality, ultimately enhancing the site’s competitiveness as a top-tier tourist attraction.
