WHO Representative Talks Boosting Medical Tourism in Egypt with AWIU Delegation

On Friday, August 9th, 2024, Nima Saeed Abid, the WHO representative in Egypt, met with a delegation from the Arab Women Investors Union (AWIU) led by Hoda Yassa.

They discussed enhancing bilateral cooperation through integrated action plans and improving joint coordination and collaboration. During the meeting, the WHO official emphasized the importance of collaborating with NGOs and the private sector to realize the organization’s vision.

Abid presented a vision for her action plan as a WHO representative in Egypt, focusing on promoting medical tourism and supporting the healthcare system. She emphasized that the WHO aims to promote health and maintain global safety.

Yassa, the chairperson of AWIU, briefed Abid on the Union’s goals, working mechanisms, and activities since its establishment in 2005. She also highlighted the protocols and agreements signed by the Union with various international bodies, including the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

She noted that the Union was the first civil society organization to sign a cooperation protocol with the United Nations. Additionally, the Union signed agreements with Egyptian state bodies, including the Finance Ministry.

Yassa invited the WHO representative in Egypt to participate in the 27th conference of AWIU, themed “Arab-African investment and international cooperation,” scheduled to be held in the Aswan governorate from November 11th to 15th.
