According to a statement released by Vodafone last Wednesday, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and Vodafone Egypt inked two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to improve students’ digital skills.
The statement further disclosed that the purpose of these Memorandums of Understanding is to reinforce efforts towards providing students with digital skills and cultivating proficiency in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) domain.
Amr Talaat, the minister of communications and information technology, was present at the signing ceremony along with other notable people.
In the first Memorandum of Understanding, Vodafone’s cybersecurity team committed to supporting students from public Egyptian universities by helping them realize their graduation project ideas through the Digital Egypt Builders Initiative (DEBI).
The statement explained that Vodafone’s team will assess these initiatives and offer sponsorship to make sure they meet present and future labor market demands.
In addition, a variety of technology subjects, such as 5G networks, artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and cybersecurity, will be covered in depth seminars by Vodafone Egypt.
Several initiatives, including the Digital Egypt Pioneers Initiative (DEPI) and the Digital Egypt Marvels Initiative (DEMI), were included in the second Memorandum of Understanding.
On their part, DEPI focuses on developing technological leadership in contemporary technologies among university students and graduates from all fields of study, while DEMI aims to improve the technological skills of students in the fourth to sixth grades.
Furthermore, thanks to the Vodafone Egypt Foundation, students taking part in these programs will get free access to the foundation’s “Ta3limy” platform.
Notably, MCIT introduced the DEBI in September 2020 to develop competent ICT industry professionals, with special focus on fostering the creative potential of Egyptian youth.
