Today concludes the global campaign’s activities to combat GBV at Cairo University

The Unit for Combating Violence against Women at Cairo University is organizing the closing ceremony of the activities of the 16-day global campaign to combat violence against women, under the auspices of Dr. Mohamed Othman Elkhosht, President of the University, and in the presence of the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Hala El-Said, representatives of civil society organizations, professors and students, in the Grand Celebration Hall of the University.

During the closing ceremony, Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Planning and Economic Development, the President of the University, Dr. Muhammad Alaa, Director of the Human Rights Unit at the Ministry of Planning, and Dr. Amira Tawadros, Director of the Unit for Combating Violence against Women at the University, will all be giving speeches.

It is worth mentioning that the Unit for Combating Violence against Women at Cairo University organized a sports and entertainment day in the university’s sports city last week, in conjunction with the 16-day global campaign to combat violence against women, and in cooperation with the National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Family, within the framework of the university’s keenness to support women. Empowering and protecting women from all forms of violence against them, and contributing to the implementation of the national strategy for the advancement of women 2030.

The closing ceremony includes a presentation of documentary videos about the Unit for Combating Violence against Women at Cairo University, and another about the Youth for Development Initiative. The events also include a presentation by the young winners of the first place in the Youth Initiative for Development competition. The celebration ends with an Arabic music concert on “Egyptian Women” by Choir Youth of the General Authority for Cultural Palaces.
