The Founder and Chairperson of the Top 50 Women Forum, Dina Abdel Fattah, said that the current edition of the summit aims to create a broad movement at all levels. Further, it will empower Egyptian women and mitigate the obstacles that hinder the empowerment efforts. Hence, short-term strategies will be set based on international and regional experiences to facilitate partnerships between different stakeholders to bridge the gender gap. It also calls for adopting incentivizing measures at the government and private sector levels.
She added that the forum, in collaboration with many local and international partners, aims to bridge the knowledge gap related to women’s empowerment in society. It contributes to building a unified framework that establishes women’s empowerment as a promising economic opportunity, especially in the current global conditions and repercussions affecting the Egyptian state. It is not just a societal responsibility or an improvement of the overall image, but a long-term initiative. The current edition of the summit seeks to achieve this through various open discussions.
Abdel Fattah pointed out that the summit will take place at a time when Egyptian women receive a lot of attention from the political leadership and are being empowered at all levels. This has led to a noticeable improvement in the status of women in Egypt and their political, economic, and social participation. However, despite these achievements, Egypt, like other Arab and African countries, still suffers from a wide gender gap, especially in terms of economic and political participation. In this context, it is important to address some crucial points during the conference concerning this issue.
