The Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates’ Affairs, Soha Gendi, emphasized the country’s commitment to the development of historical sites, particularly Historic Cairo.
The statement was made during her virtual meeting with Hala Ghonim, a member of the ministry’s Council of Experts and Scholars and a Professor of Visual Politics and Heritage at the Dresden University of Technology (TUD). The Emigration Ministry released a statement on Monday, detailing the discussion.
During the meeting, the two parties engaged in a discussion on diverse propositions aimed at preserving Egyptian cultural and civilizational heritage. Additionally, they delved into the possibility of promoting Egyptian handicrafts and heritage products on a global scale, as well as organizing exhibitions for handicraft industries in the domestic market.
Ghonim suggested some projects that use modern technologies to preserve Egypt’s cultural heritage and manuscripts. He also cautioned against propaganda campaigns, which falsely accuse the Egyptian government of destroying its own cultural heritage.
The minister pointed out that these campaigns aim to harm the reputation of the Egyptian State, particularly as the country is making remarkable progress in many aspects.
